Newly surfaced images suggest Meta’s taking quite an ambitious step forward with an upcoming lineup boasting enhancements in design and stellar performance. Updated models will supposedly offer markedly longer battery life and impressively smarter AI features that ostensibly transcend short-term usage entirely.
Two versions of the glasses are apparently being worked on, as per some leaked info shared by XR Research Institute on WeChat. One, codenamed “Aperol,” reportedly bears a striking resemblance to Ray-Ban’s classic sunglasses, with quite a modern twist. “Bellini” appears to deliberately cater to users who wear prescription glasses with considerable finesse rather quietly. Code names mentioned in earlier reports by The Information match these, adding much credibility to a potentially huge leak.
Internal improvements are the real highlight beyond the visual refresh. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses currently handle AI functions sporadically for roughly thirty minutes at a stretch before abruptly shutting down. New models could extend runtime by several hours, making AI tools far more usable pretty much throughout an entire day.
AI capabilities are expected to undergo a significant revamp pretty soon, with major upgrades looming largely over their existing skill set. Advanced features such as real-time object detection and contextual scene recognition might morph into everyday utilities rather than gimmicky novelties.
These glasses still won’t sport built-in displays, so they’re excluded from Meta’s vaunted Hypernova lineup, expected soon with screens embedded. These are a direct follow-up to the 2023 Ray-Ban Meta models essentially.
Reports hint at a possible release later this year, especially after Meta launched Oakley-branded smart glasses in June. No official word exists. Pricing remains murky globally for now, and global availability stays equally opaque.
