With much anticipation, Kia India has introduced the Carens Clavis EV — its first fully electric vehicle, proudly designed and built in India. The launch marks a bold stride in Kia’s electric future, with the Clavis EV starting at an attractive ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The spacious electric recreational vehicle offers Indian consumers a compelling option for transitioning somewhat painlessly to electric driving nowadays.
Carens Clavis EV Price Details
The Carens Clavis EV comes in four variants, with pricing kicking off at ₹17.99 lakh for the HTK Plus 7-seater model sporting a 42kWh battery pack. The HTX variant with the same battery costs ₹20.49 lakh. The higher-capacity 51.4kWh battery becomes available in the ER HTX variant priced at ₹22.49 lakh, while the ER HTX Plus costs ₹24.49 lakh.
Battery, Range & Performance
Kia’s Anantapur plant churns out this EV with two battery pack options available under its sleek Battery Range & Performance specs. The 42kWh battery delivers an ARAI-certified range of 404 km, while the larger 51.4kWh pack promises up to 490 km on a single charge under MIDC norms. Equipped with 100kW DC fast charging, the Clavis EV can rapidly charge its battery from 10% to 80% in a mere 39 minutes.
Powering the vehicle are two motor choices—a 99kW version for efficient performance and a 126kW motor that delivers a thrilling 0–100 km/h sprint in just 8.4 seconds, backed by 255Nm of peak torque. The battery system uses a liquid-cooled thermal management system and has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. It also packs Vehicle-to-Load functionality, enabling users to power gadgets and small household contraptions straight from the car battery.
The Clavis EV’s interior combines cutting-edge tech with a surprisingly spacious and comfortable environment. A large 67.62cm panoramic display integrates the digital instrument cluster with the infotainment system impressively inside the vehicle. The Premium highlights include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, an immersive 8-speaker Bose audio setup, and vibrant 64-colour ambient lighting. It features one-touch tumble second-row seats and a Boss Mode function for increased rear legroom, with wireless phone charging offered conveniently.
Advanced Safety and ADAS
The Carens Clavis EV boasts Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, packing over 20 autonomous features including Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and junctions, alongside Blind Spot Collision Warning. A 360-degree camera and Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold feature prominently in the package, along with Safe Exit Warning and Driver Attention Warning.
Kia has included eighteen standard safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, and disc brakes on all four wheels.
Connectivity and Charging Support
Clavis EV excels remarkably in connectivity, boasting over 90 connected car features accessible via the Kia Connect app. Users can remotely monitor energy consumption and manage charging schedules while controlling various V2L settings effectively from afar. Kia offers access to over 11,000 charging stations nationwide in India and provides charger suggestions based on routes quite helpfully. Kia has established over 250 EV-ready service centers nationwide, and more than 100 dealerships are fast-charging enabled across the country.
Variants and Colours
Four quirky variants are available, including HTK Plus and ER HTX Plus, for customers to choose from various colourful options. Six colours are available for vehicle purchase, including Glacier White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, and the new Matte Ivory Silver.
