Tesla officially kickstarts operations in India with the launch of its first Supercharger station at One BKC in Mumbai, scheduled for August 4, 2025. This bold move swiftly follows the recent opening of its maiden showroom in Mumbai, and a second outlet will be launched soon in Delhi.
The upcoming Supercharger site boasts four V4 stalls with DC fast charging capabilities and four Destination Charging stalls with AC charging. Fast chargers offer a peak output of 250 kW at a cost of ₹24 per kWh. AC chargers provide up to 11 kW at merely ₹11 per kWh.
With the new V4 Superchargers, the Tesla Model Y can recharge up to 267 km of driving range in just 15 minutes—equivalent to five round trips between the airport and the Gateway of India in Mumbai. Tesla owners simply plug in their EVs, and charging updates appear promptly on the Tesla mobile app, with stall availability clearly displayed.
The Tesla Model Y is available in India in two variants: the standard rear-wheel-drive version priced at ₹59.89 lakh and the long-range RWD model costing ₹67.89 lakh. These cost ₹61.07 lakh and ₹69.15 lakh respectively, including on-road charges.
The RWD variant comes with a 60 kWh battery or a 75 kWh battery, featuring a single electric motor that delivers roughly 295 hp. The 60 kWh version purportedly boasts a WLTP range of up to 500 km, while the long-range model ostensibly delivers a whopping 622 km on a full charge.
