BMW Motorrad India has rolled out the new BMW S 1000 R hyper-naked roadster, hitting showrooms at an introductory â‚ą19.90 lakh, ex-showroom. Brought in as a CBU, the bike is now open for booking at every BMW Motorrad dealership, from the bright glass-front showroom downtown to the quiet one tucked beside the highway.
BMW S 1000 R: Powertrain
Powering the bike is a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine that cranks out 170bhp and 114Nm—about 5bhp more than the model before it, enough to feel that extra punch when you twist the throttle. It rockets from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds, then pushes on to an electronically capped 250km/h, the wind roaring past like a steady rush in your ears. You can opt for an M Endurance chain with a shorter gear ratio, giving you snappier launches and cutting down on upkeep.
Design
The S 1000 R shows off a sharp, naked-roadster look, with a split-face LED headlight that cuts through the dark, a redesigned rear section, and three paint choices: Blackstorm Metallic, Bluefire with Mugiallo Yellow in the Style Sport package, or bold M Motorsport colours in the M package.
