Citroen has rolled out the Citroen Basalt X in India, starting at an introductory Rs 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom), with its sleek grille catching the light. The new edition adds a fresh coat of polish, packs in extra features, and reshapes the variant line-up, making the SUV-coupe more enticing.
Citroen Basalt X: Design and Features
Maintaining its coupe-SUV stance, the Citroen Basalt X now features an ‘X’ badge on the tailgate, refined LED daytime running strips on the grille, and distinctive dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. You can also add a contrasting roof for an extra Rs 21,000.
Inside, you’ll find a tan-and-black colour scheme with bronze accents and a leatherette dashboard, while upper trims bring extras like ventilated seats, soft ambient lighting, a fold-down rear armrest with cupholders, and a wireless charging pad. It comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen that supports wireless phone mirroring, a crisp 7-inch digital driver’s display, push-button start, keyless entry, cruise control, an auto-dimming IRVM, and, for an extra Rs 25,000, a 360-degree camera that gives you a clear view all around the car.
The top-spec X Max AT now comes with the “Cara” digital assistant, which can pull up live flight updates, smooth out your drive with traffic optimisation, and ping you with smart reminders—like telling you it’s time to grab your coat before the rain starts.
When it comes to safety, the Basalt X doesn’t compromise. It carries a 4-star BNCAP rating and packs in six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold assist, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors that make backing up hassle-free.
Citroen Basalt X: Engine, Variants and Price
The Citroen Basalt X still offers the same two engines: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol that makes 82bhp and 115Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual, and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol producing 110hp and up to 205Nm, matched to either a 6-speed manual or a smooth 6-speed automatic.
Prices start at Rs 7.95 lakh for the base Puretech 82 MT and climb to Rs 12.89 lakh for the top-end Puretech 110 AT Max with Cara, packed with every feature down to the leather-wrapped steering wheel. You can reserve yours now for Rs 11,000, and the first deliveries should roll out soon.
