Indian Railways continues enhancing passenger amenities through various initiatives, including modern trains and the rapid redevelopment of railway stations. Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the RailOne app on the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
The RailOne app aims to streamline and elevate the passenger experience by integrating multiple services into a single platform.
Key Features of RailOne App:
- Unreserved & Platform Tickets: Enjoy a 3% discount on these tickets.
- Live Train Tracking: Stay updated in real-time.
- Grievance Redressal: Resolve issues quickly.
- Additional Services: Includes e-catering, porter booking, and last-mile taxi options.
RailOne has been authorized as a partner app by IRCTC, while reserved tickets will remain available on the IRCTC website. Existing RailConnect and UTS credentials are supported, and login convenience is offered through mPIN or robust biometric authentication. Consolidating services enables space efficiency as app usage replaces multiple downloads.
Advancing the Passenger Reservation System (PRS)
The Railway Minister applauded CRIS for its significant accomplishments during the event and emphasized the need for ongoing innovation to reinforce and modernize the digital backbone of Indian Railways. He underscored the progress on upgrading the Passenger Reservation System, remarkably set for rollout by December 2025 nationwide across various platforms.
The revamped PRS will:
- Be agile, multilingual, and equipped to handle a load ten times greater than the current capacity.
- Facilitate 1.5 lakh ticket bookings and 40 lakh inquiries per minute.
- Offer enhanced features like seat selection, a fare calendar, and inclusive options for Divyangjan, students, and patients.
