Renault’s all-new Boreal SUV, designed for international markets outside Europe, is slated to launch in India by late 2026. Renault’s ambitious €3 billion international strategy involves launching eight vehicles outside Europe by 2027, with Boreal being the fourth model targeting regions such as Latin America, Turkey, and the Mediterranean. By blending elegant styling with modular engineering and advanced in-car technology, the Boreal is set to enhance Renault’s reach across more than 70 countries. Production will be localized, with Brazil’s Curitiba plant serving Latin America and Turkey’s Bursa plant supplying global markets. “Renault Boreal is a powerful symbol of our commitment to global quality and innovation,” stated Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand.
Bold Exterior, Premium Interior
According to Renault brand CEO Fabrice Cambolive, the Boreal is a strong representation of global innovation and the brand’s unwavering commitment. Boreal stretches 4.56 meters in length with a 2.70-meter wheelbase, sporting a bold aerodynamic design heavily influenced by the Niagara concept. It boasts 19-inch alloy wheels and aluminum skid plates beneath a contrasting black roof with a panoramic sunroof, offering a rugged yet upscale presence.
The SUV features twin 10-inch OpenR screens powered natively by Google’s infotainment platform, enticing families and tech enthusiasts alike with its immense capability. Drivers can swiftly access Google Maps and over 100 apps including Amazon Music and Prime Video with considerable ease. Illuminated by 48-color customizable LED ambient lighting, the cabin also features premium soft-touch materials, regional Blue or Cool Grey upholstery, and dual-zone climate control. Rear passengers enjoy generous legroom, and USB-C charging ports are provided alongside air vents situated at the rear. Boot space stands at 586 litres and expands significantly to 1,770 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
Advanced Tech and Safety
Boreal features up to 24 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems including Lane Keep Assist and Emergency Braking, with semi-autonomous Level 2 capabilities. A Harman Kardon sound system, tuned in collaboration with electronic music maestro Jean-Michel Jarre, delivers five immersive audio modes for rich in-cabin sonic thrills.
Engine and Market-Specific Variants
The SUV debuts in Latin America sporting a new 1.3-litre turbocharged TCe engine with direct injection. It delivers up to 163 bhp in Flex Fuel configuration, 156 bhp in petrol for some Latin American markets, and 138 bhp for Turkish buyers. Torque peaks at 270Nm and 240Nm respectively. Standard on every version is a 6-speed dual-clutch EDC automatic transmission.
